Noisy Fireworks
The fact that the Town of Silver City just passed a new Noise Control Ordinance indicates that too many citizens have been subjected to too much noise and sought relief from the Town Council.
Although we, for the most part, are not within the city limits, it should be just as relevant to us to try to be respectful and considerate of each other in this regard. 8 PM to 8 AM are quiet hours, where leaf blowers, yard maintenance equipment, boom box music, construction equipment and noises above a specific decibel level are not allowed. (I realize in summer DST those hours are more like 10PM to 8AM).
This would include loud fireworks as well. Fireworks specifically are not just an annoyance; it seriously traumatizes some pets to a point of an uncontrollable frenzy. Last 4th of July some of us took our most affected pets away from town to avoid the trauma, only to discover that we had to wait until midnight before we could come home. We respectfully ask that you consider the affects on pets and your neighbors with loud fireworks.
If people would just restrict our fireworks displays to the 4th of July and New Years eve and not expand them to a week, it would be tolerable.
